Two exam tracks are running at once. BLCUP published an official answer for each — start with the free one.
Free of charge. The upgrade resources are published and hosted by BLCUP — we send you the map, not a copy of their files.

Where Things Actually Stand
Most of the panic online comes from people who think the old exam disappeared overnight. It didn’t. Here is the documented timeline, straight from the publisher of the standard.
Which is why nobody has to throw away a textbook. What you need is a patch — and if you are starting from zero, a series written to the new standard from page one.
What Actually Changed
Three things moved. One module is genuinely new; the rest were upgraded in place.
| Dimension | HSK 2.0 | HSK 3.0 |
|---|---|---|
| Level system | Six levels (1–6) | Three bands, nine levelsElementary 1–3 · Intermediate 4–6 · Advanced 7–9 |
| Skills tested | Listening, speaking, reading, writing | Listening, speaking, reading, writing + translationTranslation available in seven languages. |
| Syllabus modules | Vocabulary + grammar + topics + tasks | Vocabulary + grammar + topics + tasks + charactersA dedicated character syllabus, specified level by level. |
✨ The character syllabus is the only new module. The other four were optimised, not replaced — which is exactly why a patch on the textbook you already own can bring you up to the new standard.
This is the part that decides what you should be studying this month.

HSK (Hanyu Shuiping Kaoshi) was pioneered and developed by Beijing Language and Culture University (BLCU) in 1984 as China’s official international Chinese proficiency certification system.
The landmark HSK Standard Course, published by Beijing Language and Culture University Press (BLCUP) and sequentially released since 2013–2014, remains the most authoritative textbook series adopted globally by Confucius Institutes and worldwide organizations.
A towering academic institution that pioneered and shaped the HSK standard for over 40 years. Every grammar point is backed by four decades of rigorous pedagogical research.
Two Official Paths
BLCUP did not ask the world to pick a winner. It published two answers and said plainly how they relate: one is the mature way through the transition, the other is the series built for what comes after it.
《HSK标准教程》+ 3.0升级资源
Keep the textbook on your desk. The gap between what it teaches and what 3.0 asks for is covered by an official patch, broken down point by point and folded into each lesson.
《贯通中文 综合教程》 · Chief editor Prof. Jiang Liping · Global launch 28 July 2026
Not a patched edition. A nine-level series written to the HSK 3.0 syllabus from the first page, for learners from absolute zero to advanced — with an English edition.
The publisher’s own positioning: the two series coexist and complement each other. HSK Standard Course is the mature transition solution; Mastering Chinese is the forward-looking new choice. Whichever you pick, you are studying to the same standard.
| Mastering Chinese | HSK 3.0 level | Vocabulary |
|---|---|---|
| Level 1 | Level 1 | 300 |
| Level 2 | Level 2 | 500 |
| Level 3 | Level 3 | 1,000 |

Three questions. No email required.
1. Where are you right now?
2. Which exam are you aiming at?
3. And you are…
01 / Bridge the Vocabulary Gap
Where we come in: a filtered list of the entries that matter at your level, in the order to learn them — instead of a few hundred new words with no priority attached.
02 / Real Speaking Confidence
Where we come in: automatic scoring tells you that a tone was wrong. Your teacher reviews the recordings the machine keeps marking down and tells you why — and since 3.0 tests speaking and translation, this stops being optional.
03 / Practise Smarter, Not Harder
Where we come in: a weekly read of your mistakes notebook to catch the pattern behind the errors, instead of re-drilling them one at a time.
The vocabulary entries, speaking assessment and quiz bank above are features of BLCUP’s official online learning zone for the HSK Standard Course 3.0 upgrade. They are not ChinoEasy products, they are free, and using them does not require enrolling with us.
What Ships With the New Series
If you teach, this is the part that decides whether adopting a new series costs you a term of preparation or a weekend. Mastering Chinese was released with all of it, not ahead of it.
Built by the same team that wrote the textbook and usable straight out of the box: vocabulary expansion, pronunciation practice, character-breakdown drills and classroom games.
The point is prep time — one click instead of an evening rebuilding a deck.
An interactive whiteboard edition with word- and sentence-level read-aloud, record-and-repeat, and handwriting practice for characters.
Built so students do something in class rather than watch someone present.
On-camera lessons recorded by experienced teachers — course introductions, new vocabulary, grammar explanations — sequenced to follow the book.
Useful for flipped classrooms, and for students who miss a session.
One place holding the video lessons, the interactive book, interactive exercises, the standardised slides with lesson plans and notes on the hard points, and the digital supplements: audio, video, listening scripts and answer keys.
Covers both sides — preparing, teaching and marking for teachers; previewing and reviewing for learners.
Each new word arrives with its part of speech, the collocations it actually appears in, and a full example sentence in context — so vocabulary is learned as usage rather than as a bilingual list. The character syllabus that HSK 3.0 introduced is taught as part of the course, level by level.
Mastering Chinese: A Comprehensive Course(《贯通中文 综合教程》), chief editor Prof. Jiang Liping, is published by Beijing Language and Culture University Press; an English edition is available. The textbooks and the platform above are the publisher’s — ChinoEasy teaches with them.
Teachers & Schools
Patched series or new series — the answer depends on your cohorts. The same free pack includes the part written for whoever is standing at the front of the room.
Tell us your cohorts when you reply to the email and a teacher answers, not a sales rep. We are a school, not a distributor — orders go to BLCUP or its regional representatives, and we will point you to the right one.
The next 3.0 trial sitting is 20 September 2026, with global rollout expected in December. Whichever textbook you end up teaching from, the upgrade pack costs nothing and tells you exactly what moved.
Send Me the Free HSK 3.0 Pack →Gain instant access to the digital learning patchesNo cost, no catch. If Path B turns out to be yours, the guide says so.
If your goal is everyday communication rather than rigid academic exams, the HSK path might feel slightly formal. We highly recommend Easy Steps to Chinese System, another stellar curriculum under the BLCU academic umbrella.
It is designed to be far more intuitive, practical, and beginner-friendly for foreigners.
